The Prince George's County Department of Recreation is seeking Seasonal/Intermittent applicants to fill a variety of positions at several of its Senior Activity Centers throughout the County.

Senior Activity Center Assistant Program Director/Manager on Duty ( $9.26/hr-$14.36/hr, depending on experience)
Assistant Directors are responsible for acting as the Senior Activity Center Director. Assists with the overall supervision of the onsite operation of a comprehensive senior activity center serving ages 60 & better. Handles computerized SMARTlink program registrations, and miscellaneous administrative tasks. Maintains open commmunication with the Director and assists to plan, organize, implement and evaluate activities designed to meet the needs of the center patrons. Assistant Directors also supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers; enforce program policies/procedures; works closely with the Food and Friendship Program, the RSVP program and other program partners, and M-NCPPC staff; and provides excellent customer service. Qualifications: Four-year degree or two years of college and two years experience working with seniors or four or more years experience working with seniors. Specialized experience in parks and recreation, gerontology, social services, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must attain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications. Must attend all mandatory trainings. (Customer Service, SMARTlink etc.)
Senior Activity Center Support Staff ($8.02/hr-$12.43/hr, depending on experience)
Senior Center support staff assist with a variety of administrative and program tasks. Responsibilities include planning and leading activities, facilitating participation, assisting with set up and clean up of center, answering phones, handling program registrations via the computer (SMARTlink program), communicates effectively with patrons, staff, volunteers, and program partners, enforces program rules, complies with policies/procedures. Provides excellent customer service and performs assigned duties in appropriate uniform and nametag. Qualfications: Minimum age of 18. One year of college plus one year of experience working with seniors or two or more years of experience working with seniors. Must attain First Aid, CPR and AED certificatons. Must attend all mandatory trainings, (i.e. Customer Service, SMARTlink, etc.)
Senior Activity Center Leader ($7.15/ hr-$11.09/ hr- depending on experience)
Assistant leaders assist seniors 60 & better as assigned at the senior activity center operations. Responsibilities include assisting with planning and leading activities, facilitating participation, assisting with special events, trips and activities to include set up and clean up. Assistant leaders communicate effectively, enforce program rules, comply with policies/procedures. Provides excellent customer service and performs assigned duties in appropriate uniform and nametag. Qualifications: Minimum age of 16. Entry level position. Desire and interest in working with seniors. Minimal related experience required. Must attain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications as directed. Must attend mandatory trainings.
Wood Craft Room Supervisor- Class Instructor V- ($14.80/hr-$22.95/hr-depending on experience)
Provides direct supervision of the wood craft shop room, to include inspecting of all machinery, ensuring safety procedures and policies are followed, coordinating and scheduling shop volunteers, maintaining all shop records as required. Conducts the mandatory room orientations required for all users which includes reviewing the Wood Craft Room Policy and Procedures Manual and demonstrations on all pieces of equipment. May teach wood craft classes and make recommendations on supplies and equipment needed as well. This position is located at Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center. Qualifications: Experienced carpenter or wood worker with over 6 years of experience. CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to take the class prior to working). Must pass background check.
Driver ($8.02/ hr- $12.43 /hr- depending on experience)
Drivers transport seniors on field trips and outings on M-NCPPC vehicles. Additional duties include; securing passengers safely, ensuring the vehicle is clean, well maintained, adhering to and following emergency procedures, and being a safe/courteous driver. Provides excellent customer service and performs assigned duties in appropriate uniform and nametag. Qualifications: Valid C or D Driver's License. No more than one (1) point on driver's license. Must have a minimum of two years or more of experience driving. Minimum age 21. Must attain Defensive Driving certification. Must attain First Aid, CPR and AED certifications. Must attend manadatory training/orientation.
Class Instructors (CI III- $9.82/hr-$15.22/hr; CI IV- $11.02/hr- $18.47/hr; CI V- $14.80/hr-$22.95/hr- depending on education and experience).
Provides instruction for a specific skill area such as computer skills, painting, drawing, stained glass, arts & crafts, jewelry making, piano, singing, sign language, Spanish, Tai chi, yoga, aerobics, exercise, strength training, dancing, and other specialty skills. Provides exceptional customer service to class patrons, keeps attendance records, and communicates closely with volunteers, staff, and class participants. Qualifications: CI III-Two years of experience in a skill area or specific education and training in a skill area. Ability to teach beginner skill level clases (i.e. Introduction to computers), CI IV- Four years of experience in skill area or specialized education and training in skill area. Ability to teach intermediate skill level classes , CI B- Six years of experience in a skill area or specific education and training in a skill area. Ability to teach advanced skill level classes.
