Job Summary
Bridgevine has an excellent opportunity for a Linus Administrator to be based out of our office in Alpharetta, Georgia.

The Linux Administrator will report to the Director of Network Engineering. Responsibilities include installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting of server hardware, operating systems, storage, software and utilities in a large enterprise environment. Involved with production projects that include system design, programmer and development support and operational management within the application lifecycle process. Ensuring all Linux systems and databases (RHEL, CentOS, Debian, mongoDB, custom installations, etc) are online per business SLAs and are running satisfactory for all company needs. The Linux admin must provide immediate feedback to Directors, Project Managers and Managers on the health and well-being of the systems.

Job Description
The key responsibilities for the Linux admin are as follows:
• Responsible for the integrity of the systems
• Perform technical analysis of software, hardware, and network systems.
• Maintain and operate system monitoring and diagnostic equipment for capacity planning, maintenance and diagnostic purposes.
• Ensuring databases (mysql, mongoDB) are online, backed up and performing satisfactory
• Communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
• Install new and rebuild existing systems
• Perform diagnostic tests, notes symptoms, and gathers relevant problem/malfunction facts and data from users.
• Ensure system redundancy and failover mechanisms are working and tested.
• Serve as the technical lead in the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies.
• Serve as the technical liaison to vendors.
• Ensuring high level of security and applying current security practices.
• Work with Information Security Officer (ISO) to ensure that systems are hardened to meet compliance requirements.
• Provide evidence to the ISO as needed for periodic system audits.
• Perform regular and schedule OS patching to ensure security and address vulnerabilities
• Perform migrations for application and OS to new servers.
• Perform related duties as required.

Job Requirements/Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or relevant job history.
• Minimum 5 years of Linux administration experience.
• Hands-on experience implementing and administrating Linux operating systems, LAMP support and maintenance and security within Linux environments.
• Extensive experience with RedHat Linux 5.0 and recent, Debian squeeze and CentOS.
• Strong knowledge of MySQL and Mongo databases.
• Knowledge of other open source databases as big plus.
• Strong understanding and management skills of the LAMP stack.
• Strong knowledge of multi node Linux web clusters
• Strong knowledge of apache and security practices associated.
• Linux practices both physical and virtual, especially VMware.
• Understanding of network principles, load balancing, etc.
• Penetration and vulnerability testing.
• Linux troubleshooting and administration.
• Occasional helpdesk support and user troubleshooting
• Ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Troubleshoot and support 24x7 operations.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent customer presentation skills.
• Certifications a plus.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move all components of PC workstations, servers, network equipment, peripherals, and other ancillary equipment.
