Job Type: Full Time Position Summary:
The IS Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, estimating, providing day-to-day management, leadership, direction and administration across the full project lifecycle (planning through implementation) on large projects (with high level of complexity) or multiple projects. The incumbent participates in the planning, directing and coordinating of activities pertaining to projects. This includes working collaboratively to ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives, and managing the team that develops and executes projects for assigned business unit(s). Additionally, the Senior Project Manager provides guidance and mentoring to other project managers and contributes to their local PMO. Required Qualifications:
Strong planning and estimating skills for time and cost across all phases of the project lifecycle Competency in using all processes and tools required to perform required duties and tasks Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work with multiple teams, delegating workload and ensuring team efficiency Must be able to identify, assess and resolve complex business problems/issue/risks and facilitate issue resolution and risk mitigation independently Ability to work with the business users, understand their needs and translate those needs to the final project deliverables Ability to work with the technical resources, understand their needs and coordinate their efforts to deliver the final project solution Proven ability to function as a leader throughout the project lifecycle Understanding of software development methodologies such as RUP, Waterfall, SEP, etc Proven capabilities with stakeholder management and control. Ability to serve as a subject matter expert, mentor, and role model to other Project Managers Preferred Qualifications:
Working with team leads, functional managers and project support staff (Architects, DBAs, etc.), create, maintain and manage the project schedule Establish, manage and control project scope through a structured scope management process Project Communication – Ensure timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination and storage of project information – prepare project status reports and keep upper IS management, business clients and others informed of project status and related issues Resource Management – Plan for and acquire team resource needs, making the most effective use of people involved with the project – this entails day-to-day team management, team communication, identifying and leveraging strong skills while developing others Project administration including forecasting setup and tracking, project financials, time/expense reconciliation and enforcement of standards Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all tools (SEP, ADP, MS Project, Clarity, etc.) required to successfully perform functions of the position Manage offshore service providers Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline with information technology focus Project Management Certification (PMP) is preferred Applied, proven knowledge of Software Engineering Institute (SEI), Software Quality Assurance (SQA), Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) disciplines, ITIL standards and principles preferable Business Overview:
