We are responsible for deeply integrating our client software with existing device platforms, implementing specialized APIs exposed to content authors, and integrating with our retail and content delivery systems. Our technology enables content teams to create really cool customer-facing features across multiple devices including Kindle Fire, Paperwhite, Android and iOS devices.
We are seeking a creative, customer-centric, and results oriented software development engineer to lead development of this cross-platform framework. This is a great opportunity to work on a diverse set of technologies spanning mobile devices, desktop applications, and distributed systems. Software development engineers on our team are responsible for owning large scale customer-facing features from inception to delivery and beyond. They are expected to accomplish tasks in internet time while pushing the technical envelope. Mobile device experience is not required.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
4+ years professional experience in software development
Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, and complexity analysis
Proficiency in at least, one modern object oriented programming language such as Java or C++
Experience building large scale, high-performance systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment
Self-directed and capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment
Excellent leadership, problem solving and analytical skills
Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Experience developing applications or platform components for Android or other mobile operating systems
Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
