The Accounting Analyst plays a key role in the growth and success of Clearwater Analytics by expanding the company’s addressable market. Working within Product Management, the Accounting Analyst wears many hats and shoulders a variety of responsibilities, meaning there is no “typical” day in this position. That being said, some common tasks include working closely with Product Managers, clients, and other market participants to identify and prioritize market problems, working with a team of software developers to create a solution, and communicating new features with internal and external product users.

Sitting at the crossroads of the dynamic fields of software development and financial analytics, the Accounting Analyst must be an organized and flexible leader capable of making sound decisions.

Key Objectives:
Help drive and execute the strategic vision of entire company

Gather product input from key clients, prospects, partners and other market participants

Meet weekly with CEO to discuss team and product progress

Help lead a development team to meet company-wide objectives

Ensure that Clearwater releases products that meet market needs

Own product development documentation including user personas, user stories, product backlogs and product requirements

Responsibilities:
Work side-by-side with the Software Development Team Leader of a 6- to 8-person development team to design and deliver projects on time

Collaborate with the Software Development Team Leader to run successful sprint planning sessions and retrospectives in order to improve team efficiency and effectiveness

Work with the Product Manager to understand and help shape the product roadmap

Perform market analysis including competitive analysis, win/loss analysis and direct market interviews

Represent the interest of the market in the development and enhancement of the product

Provide periodic presentations to board members and senior leadership

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

Strong knowledge of GAAP

Advanced Microsoft Excel user

1-3 years’ experience demonstrating exceptional skills in the following areas:

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions

Ability to improve client satisfaction and understand client needs

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Desired Skills:
CPA

SQL and database query experience

Securities or financial markets knowledge

Knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)

Understanding of Agile Development Processes

Product Owner or Program Manager experience

Securities or financial markets experience
