This position is assigned to the Reliability Group in the Maintenance Department, which provides mechanical expertise in the prevention of component, equipment and process failures at the Chevron Oronite Additives plant in Belle Chasse, LA. The group plays a key role in supporting the plant’s goal to operate safely, operate without environmental incident and increasing the availability of plant equipment at the lowest sustainable cost. This involves identifying and solving repetitive plant issues, working with other plant departments to optimize facility output and prioritizing projects and routine work based on return on investment.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Determines and monitors Bad Actors
Performs RCFA, RCM, FMEA to determine root cause(s) of Bad Actors
Uses KPIs to track Bad Actor performance
Monitors recent Repairs to ensure that repairs are performed to plant standards that Increase Equipment Reliability
Reviews Baseline Data to improve equipment repair and installation practices
Tracks equipment performance and failures and identifies trends
Uses KPIs to track equipment performance
Develops solutions/recommendations for Bad Actors and other equipment based on root cause(s)
Assist other departments with trouble-shooting major equipment problems
Acts as rotating equipment SME
Serves as Reliability Representative for design projects
Reviews projects for optimum reliability, availability, maintainability and operability
Performs Life Cycle Costing Analysis in the selection of equipment for capital projects
Conducts reliability training
Leads/participates RCFA, RCM, FMEA Analysis
Develops equipment maintenance strategies (PM/PdM), based on failure modes, that Optimize Equipment Run-Time and Reliability
Reviews equipment strategies at a set frequency and adjusts for applicability
Serves as Rotating Equipment Representative for outages & shut-downs
Performs other work as assigned
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
Minimum of 3 years of rotating equipment engineering experience in the petrochemical, power, or refining industries
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum of five years experience in Reliability Engineering dealing with rotating equipment
Experience conducting RCFA, RCM and FMEA
Relocation may be considered within Chevron parameters. *LI-SP1
