The Coordinator will work with the Director of Associate Development to manage all aspects of the Firm’s Associate Development processes, including the floor advisor program, partner advisor program, associate work assignments, associate performance reviews, new associate orientation, etc.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Corporate Work Assignments: Staff junior corporate associates to new matters and promote associate development work by exposing lawyers to a variety of different practice areas and senior lawyers; generate weekly availability reports for Associate Development Partners; ensure and equitable distribution of work.
Corporate Performance Evaluations: Play a key role in the performance review process for the Corporate practice group; coordinate preparation and distribution of confidential review materials for all Corporate partners; interact frequently with the Managing Partners to provide updated and formal status reports; track and monitor review report submissions; create and maintain confidential performance files.
Corporate Partner Advisor Program: Work with the Managing Partners to assign Corporate associates to partner advisors and monitor frequency of interaction to ensure that program objectives are being met.
Floor Advisor Program: Assist with the floor advisor program; assign floor advisors to incoming associates and promote community building by planning on-site social gatherings throughout the year.
Cross-Departmental Initiatives: Liaise regularly with Legal Education & Training, Legal Recruiting, Legal Personnel to execute cross-department initiatives, including annual new associate orientation, foreign office rotations, the summer associate program, lateral orientation meetings, and fall callback interviews.
Associate Focus Groups: Assist with the annual associate focus groups and preparation of a comprehensive report for partners.
Special Projects: Handle special requests from partners on an ad-hoc basis.
In addition, responsibilities related to maintaining firm and client information are to be adhered to by all employees. This includes complying with the firm’s information security policies, protecting firm assets from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference, and reporting security events or potential events or other security risks to management.
Must be a self-starter with excellent attention to detail, ability to issue-spot, strong organizational skills and follow-through to carry tasks through completion without prompting. Must be able to work independently and in a team environment. Must be creative, flexible, and open to new ideas and evolving responsibilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and address sensitive matters with appropriate discretion and diplomacy. Superior judgment and interpersonal skills. Ability to work flexible hours in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
Education and/or experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
