      Overall Purpose and Main Objectives:

      Purpose: Build, enhance and maintain the image and reputation and brand of COUNTRY Financial.

      Main Objectives:

      1. Supports our corporate mission, objectives and vision through external communications.

      2. Analyzes, develops and measures media relations materials and strategies for the general public and to targeted groups within the general public.

      3. Acts as a watchdog for threats that could damage the reputation of COUNTRY and recommends strategies to manage threats.

      Position is vital to protecting and strengthening the reputation of COUNTRY Financial.
        Supports the corporate vision and provides good news about the organization to our general publics. Approaches may include, but are not limited to, news releases, media kits, columns, digital and social media, media pitches and press conferences. Serves as a spokesperson for the organization, handling contact with newspaper, magazine, radio television, trade press and social media. Trains leadership and other company spokespeople to deliver messages through various external communication mediums. Evaluates emerging risks to our corporate brand and reputation. Develops proactive/reactive messages and processes to manage threats, and provide integrated management of potentially adverse public issues that may impact our good reputation. Develops and maintains good relationships with editors, reporters and influential social media in key media markets. Creates and/or oversees the creation and accuracy of news releases, videos, media kits, corporate positions, columns, and other media relations materials for the companies and/or our agency force. Represents the organization at community and professional events and meetings. Stays abreast of industry news, governmental regulations and legislative issues affecting the organization. When warranted, creates and/or oversees the creation and distribution of COUNTRY responses. Handles media/community relations during disasters or crises. Oversees the maintenance of information about the companies (employee numbers, financials, management bios, etc.) so questions from the media can be answered accurately while protecting sensitive corporate information. Qualifications Education
        · Education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or equivalent in related work experience. Experience
        · At least two years of news media experience in corporate media relations or within a news media organization.
        · Experience representing company or media organization at public events. Knowledge
        · Knowledge of methods and practices of the news media and social media. Skills
        · Proven written and oral communication skills. Ability to translate insurance and financial services products and services information into meaningful, easily understandable copy while meeting legal, brand, online and other corporate standards.
        · Proven multi-media skills, including non-linear video editing and publishing
        · Ability to coach management and subject matter experts to serve as media spokespeople and to give speeches to external audiences.
        · Skilled in planning, budgeting, scheduling, proofreading, organizing, controlling, leading, and problem solving.
        · Experience with Microsoft Office programs. Preferred Qualifications and Skills: Experience
        · At least two years of experience editing and publishing internet video. Knowledge
        · Knowledgeable about principles and practices of public speaking.
        · Ability to develop and implement strong communication strategies to achieve objectives.
        · Perform independently under deadlines to assure timely completion of projects and media responses.

        · Demonstrates ability to work and communicate with management, Home Office personnel, the agency force, the public, and the media.
        · Possess excellent written and oral skills, and expert analytical skills.
