- Perform operating system upgrades and Patching
- Create file system layout
- Configure network interfaces
- Perform system contingency planning and testing
- Maintain overall security settings for all Linux & UNIX machines.
- Maintain inventory information; infrastructure drawings and documentation
- Evaluate and / or direct the research and analysis of new / enhanced technical software and hardware (including their affect / impact on configurations, security, and the business environment).
- Maintain an awareness of new software and hardware technology.
- Monitor performance of software and hardware and recommend changes to obtain and maintain acceptable performance.
- Recommend changes where necessary to anticipate future performance requirements.
- Perform analysis and develop new technical processes and makes recommendations for the improvements of existing processes.
- Perform tasks necessary to comply with established technical and administrative procedures / standards.
- Escalate with vendors as needed
- Work with cross functional teams to implement, update & troubleshoot environments
- Update management on status of problems
- Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must be able to work flexible hours and be on-call (Including nights and weekends)
- Ability to work in team driven environments to assist in organization-wide issues yet work independently to solve isolated problems
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of applicable programming technology and managerial skills required. Technically competent in relevant software and hardware areas such as communications, operating systems, databases, TP monitors or security.
- Candidate must have an extensive knowledge of security settings for Linux / UNIX machines as well as their impact on production productivity. This position will have a key role in security administration.
- Candidate must be familiar with, and able to administer virtualized environments (LPAR, Containers, LDOMs, VIO). This includes both Solaris and AIX offerings, as well as workload management of these environments
- Minimum 5 years / extensive knowledge of Solaris and Linux internals
- Experience in complex technical problem diagnosis. Exercise good judgment and act on the basis of limited but adequate data.
- Experience with installation, configuration, management, problem determination, and performance management of Solaris and Linux Operating Systems and closely associated products and utilities.
- Experience with managing and performing problem determination for UNIX hardware.
- Sun Jumpstart/Flash Archive and IBM NIM
