Regular Full-time, Paygrade 39, $17.22 per hour base
Duties, skills and abilities:
The Codes Inspector will review drawings for code compliance, inspect work in progress making sure it is in code compliance. Assist with campus building inspections, fire protection systems, and hood suppression inspections. Also, the duties include providing information to the shops, coworkers and others as requested, coordinate building and fire protection inspections testing and maintenance with all involved, assist with bid specifications, data input for codes enforcement and filing. Applicant should have the ability to assist with resolving code violations, construction problems and problems involving drawings.
Valid Tennessee Driver’s License
Associate of Science Degree (preferably in Fire Science Technology)
10 years in variety of construction experience.
Applicant will be required to become State Certified as a Codes Inspector within 18 months from date of employment. The applicant must have thorough code knowledge of all the State of Tennessee adopted Codes for new and existing construction and know how to apply them on various given situations.
Applicant should have the ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals of all professions and ranks. Also, applicant must be a good reader for code research, be able to read mechanical, electrical and architectural drawings; able to multi-task and deal with a variety of people.
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Mechanical Engineering or related field
