Company: The Glasgow, Ky., Daily Times
The Glasgow Daily Times is seeking an energetic editor for our top newsroom leadership position in one of the newsiest communities in south central Kentucky. The person is responsible for producing quality news content for our 7000 circulation daily newspaper, our portfolio of quarterly and annual niche products and our growing digital platforms.
The editor needs newsroom management experience, versatile journalism skills (writing, editing, story-telling, design, and pagination), print and digital background, and the ability to coach colleagues to do their best work. The editor must be self-motivated and community-oriented, connecting with our readers and providing content that meets their expectations. We prize local news, features, sports and photo content in print and online.
The editor oversees a staff of eight journalists. This is a hands-on newsroom position, but the editor is also a key member of the senior management team and has a voice in strategic initiatives undertaken by the company. The person needs to be able to communicate clearly and make smart decisions.
Glasgow has been cited nationally as one of the most livable rural regions in the nation. The community features excellent public schools and a strong health-care system. We are only 90 minutes from both Nashville and Louisville.
Interested candidates should apply online to publisher Keith Ponder at email@example.com . Include a detailed resume, a cover letter on why you believe you should be our next editor, and a half-dozen examples of your journalistic work.
The Glasgow Daily Times is a member of the Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. (CNHI) group, a leading U.S. publisher of local news and information. We are an equal opportunity employer and offer competitive salary, benefits and advancement opportunities.
