PROFILE of the UNIVERSITY

ROLE of the POSITION
The Director position exists to provide leadership and vision for all essential components of a vibrant and comprehensive recreation program. He/she must be a dynamic leader, proficient in business and finance, knowledgeable about programs and operations, a developmental supervisor, and a strategic thinker. Responsible for areas including but not limited to: intramural and extramural sports, club sports, instructional activities, outdoor adventure, fitness programs, informal recreation, and aquatics. Also responsible for maintaining high quality cleanliness of the entire facility. The Director recommends, develops/enhances and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for recreation facilities, including directing safety, security, and risk management. Evaluate and measure the effectiveness of current services and programs offered. Maintain current knowledge of campus recreation/fitness industry trends pursuant to the mission of the department. Prepare, present and supervise operations, salary, reserve and auxiliary accounts. Prepare revenue and expense projections and student fee increase proposals. Recruit, hire, supervise and provide leadership to a team of professional staff, classified staff, graduate assistants, and student workers. Work collectively with staff to define short and long term goals. Monitor progress of assigned tasks. Ensure programs are consistent with policy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six years post-masters experience to include supervision of professional and classified staff in a multi-level organization required. Budget development/management experience required. Application of student development theory and progressive responsibilities within a university recreation center required. Demonstrated experience in all aspects of personnel management, staff development, and conflict resolution preferred. All successful candidates will have the ability to assess student needs, value a high degree of student contact, interact effectively with a wide diversity of people, have excellent interpersonal skills, communicate well in verbal and written form, and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic work environment.

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
