TITLE: FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN IV (7890)
SALARY: $32,733 - $51,575 (Grade 12)

EDUCATION: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of high school equivalency certificate.
EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or skilled trades work.
NOTE: Work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
1. Employees applying for the Facility Maintenance Technician IV classification may be required to possess and maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) valid in the State of Maryland, depending on the type of equipment operated, that may be required for continued employment. This includes obtaining and maintaining a valid US DOT Medical Card (or MVA-issued waiver) every two years.
2. Employees will be required to obtain a valid Temporary Traffic Control Manager's (TCM) Certification. Employees must satisfy this requirement prior to the end of their six (6) month probationary period.
3. Employees may also be required to satisfy any additional segments of the employing administration's training and certification program requirements to obtain and maintain permanent status in this classification.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This is the crew leader level of maintenance or construction work on facilities such as bridges, buildings, bulkheads, highways, parking areas, piers, railroads, ramps, roads, taxiways, tunnels or adjacent areas of the Maryland Department of Transportation. Employees in this class are responsible for overseeing the work of the unskilled, semi-skilled, or skilled work crews at each phase of a project. Employees at this level ensure all materials and equipment are used correctly while ensuring the work is carried out in a timely manner consistent with the employing administration's specific and standard procedures. Employees may perform the same work as the crew and may be required to function in a specialized skilled trades area. Employees in this class will be required to supervise lower level Facilities Maintenance Technicians. The current vacancy is at the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel, however this recruitment will be used to establish an Eligible List, which will fill vacancies in all MDTA locations.
