Prepares and monitors specific materials unique to the program, project, initiative or area of a department/college; maintains recording inventory and classroom equipment; manages repair and/or upkeep of all equipment; monitors concert schedule; strategically plans recording of events; coordinates resources to meet the needs of the area assigned; works collaboratively with other technical staff to insure live concert and planned studio recording coverage; monitors the activities of assigned staff; assigns student workers as necessary to meet the recording needs of the School of Music; acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs; communicates with artists regarding recording needs; effectively plans for concert coverage; provides training and professional development in the related subject matter or methodology; consults with staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation with regard to the School of Music recording and classroom equipment needs; coordinates and/or monitors the effectiveness of recording methods and work activities; prepares and conducts related program evaluation activities; annually reviews inventory of recording and classroom equipment and makes recommendations for upkeep, upgrades and replacements; resolves field related problems through written or verbal correspondence with regard to the School of Music recording and classroom needs; analyzes research data and other literature and makes interpretations for application to the School of Music recording and classroom inventory; assists in developing budgets, performance indicators, and accountability reports for new recording and classroom equipment for the School of Music.
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM; Hours will vary; part-time employment of 22 hours per week; Will be required to work evening and weekend hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and three (3) years of related experience; OR, seven (7) years of related experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
Evidence of a degree in music. Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of music genres. Experience in: audio engineering for at least five years; maintaining sound systems, microphones, other recording and classroom equipment; studio and live recording; music or theatre design and production; video recording; Final Cut Pro; Apple Logic Pro; Garage Band; DVD Studio Pro; DigiDesign Pro Tools.
