GS 11: $57,408.00 - $74,628.00
GS 12: $68,809.00 - $89,450.00

* In consultation with management, writes/disseminates press releases to media.

* In consultation with management, provides information orally to requests for information.

* Ensures the continuing, professional relationships with the media.

* Compiles, analyzes and evaluates information which may be disseminated to the news media.

* Assists in planning and organizing events for the purposes of release of information.

* Adheres to policy regarding the release of information.

* Coordinates with FBI headquarters on matters of national interest.

GS 12:

* Writes/disseminates press releases to media.

* Provides information orally to requests for information.

* Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with various entities (both internal and external) to include local, national and international news media.

* Compiles, analyzes and evaluates information to be disseminated to the news media.

* Organizes/plans events for the purposes of releasing information to the news media.

* Adheres to policy regarding the release of information.

* Coordinates with FBI headquarters on matters of national interest.


GS 11: Applicant must have one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 9 grade level. SE is:

- Applied effective communication plans.
- Determined the most appropriate means for transmitting information.
- Performed work in support of public affairs activities.
- Responded orally and in writing to requests for information.

GS 12: Applicant must have at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS 11 grade level. SE is:

-Responded orally and in writing to requests for information by the media and the public.
-Reviewed current press articles or stories and communicated information to appropriate entities.
-Disseminated (both orally and in writing) national news releases and statements on issues of national significance; coordinated press conferences.

Selective Placement Factor : In relation to the area in which the incumbent will serve so as to respect cultural and community relationships in order to build and enhance community relationships with the FBI, preference will be given to individuals who are bilingual and can speak, write, and read both English and Spanish clearly and fluently.

Education may be substituted for specialized experience at the GS 11 grade level only (as outlined below):

Applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or L.L.M., if related.

Education may not be substituted for specialized experience at the GS 12 grade level.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States

Occasional travel may be required.

Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position through a competitive OR non-competitive action may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau by means of reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. This policy does not apply to probationary employees. Probationary employees are generally precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until their 12-month probationary period has concluded.

A Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) is a 90-day written developmental plan for an employee whose performance on one or more critical elements is rated "Unacceptable".

All selectees, with the exception of current FBI employees, will be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from Legat assignment. Generally, following a COST TRANSFER you will be eligible for transfer after completing three years in the assignment. Additionally, NO COST TRANSFER require a one-year assignment commitment to be eligible for further FBI transfers.
