The Laboratory Support /Phlebotomist for Sanford Laboratories demonstrates clinical and technical competency in collection of specimens according to laboratory policy for Sanford Laboratories. Responsible for accessioning and processing specimens for Sanford Laboratories. Enters patient information and test orders into laboratory information system. Responsible for specimen integrity for all referral testing. Obtains patient demographic information including insurance and ABN's. Confidential reports are processed and monitored for distribution.
Communication, telephone, and problem resolution skill must be preformed in a professional manner. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of unique client populations, to include the following age groups: infant, toddler, pre-school & school age children, pre-adolescent, adolescent, adult and geriatric
Demonstrates patience, kindness, and cooperation with clients and co-workers. May be asked to work at or travel to any Sanford Laboratories site depending on the needs of the facility and at the discretion of the supervisor/manager.
When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.
Completion of a formal phlebotomy program preferred – minimum high school diploma or GED with appropriate phlebotomy experience.
Sanford Laboratories strongly supports and recommends National Certification. All newly hired, transferred or acquired technical staff will be “Sanford Laboratories Certified for Competency” within 6 months of hire.
