Sub Arc Machine Operators run circular welds using a weld machine that lays the weld into a beveled seam in plate steel ranging from 5/8 inch thick to nearly 2 inches in width. The weld is guided along the weld line by the operator remotely using an automated welding system. Responsibilities will include kneeling, bending for long periods. Experience in GMAW welding in the 1G position and knowledge of blueprint reading along with math skills will be necessary to be a successful candidate for this job. Welding/fitting cans to cans as needed for production will be required to get the tower sections ready for shipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
includes but is not limited to the following duties.
Ability to weld in the flat with .045 hard wire
Grinding what the operator welded
Follow directions from the supervisor
Knowledge of blueprint reading and math skills
Ability to record data
Ability to use different gauges
Ability to weld on thicknesses from 10mm to 43mm plate

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. 2 years of welding experience or, completion of an accredited two year welders training program or equivalent combination of education and experience. Operators of sub arc machines will be considered and very competitive for this job. Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality, raw materials and other techniques, methods and tools involved in the process of fabricating steel support structures. Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
