Researches, identifies, qualifies, solicits, and stewards major gifts/donors. Assists the director in planning major gift acquisitions for the college and coordinates donor move management. Assists in donor stewardship, as well as plans and coordinates donor special events. Implements and directs related activities.

Essential Functions

70% - Cultivates, stewards and solicits donors for financial support
15% - Researches, identifies, and qualifies prospective donors
10% - Plans and coordinates special events and writes donor funding proposals
05% - Assists Director of Development as directed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of successful direct fundraising experience
  • Two (2) or more years of successful major gift solicitation experience (gifts of $25,000 or more)
  • Experience managing a portfolio of primary prospects
  • Experience in all aspects of the gift cycle consisting of the following: initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors; develop appropriate cultivation strategies, including working with volunteers; move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure; make solicitations when appropriate
  • Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
  • Experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Desired Qualifications

  • CFRE Credentialed
  • Experience working in a higher education development/advancement fundraising department
  • Experience writing successful grant and major gift proposals
  • Experience securing planned and or major gifts of $100,000 or more
Special Working Conditions

This position requires flexible work hours. Some evening and weekend hours will be required as needed. May be required to work at multiple sites. Some travel is required.
