Description of Position: The Director, Child Welfare Programs, will be responsible for overall development and implementation and management of the Integrated Assessment Program in 84 counties in Illinois. The Director will be directing, leading, and implementing the work of the DCFS Integrated Assessment Program including supervising 50-60 employees.

Responsibilities of the Position: This position has primary and fundamental administrative responsibility at a high level of decision-making and control. Operating within the DCFS policies and University policies, this position has general supervision from the Principal Investigator and Fiscal Officer. Discretionary judgment and independent actions are part of the Integrated Assessment Director's purview as well as interpretation of policy, development of mission, movement toward program goals and objectives, fiscal planning and control, and directing a program that will have approximately 50-60 employees and 3 interns. Extensive travel will be required for meetings with DCFS and Integrated Assessment staff.

Requirements of Candidate:
Master of Social Work degree from an accredited School of Social Work with three years post MSW practice experience.

Must have ten years of professional child welfare work experience in both private and public child welfare agencies that includes new child welfare program development.

Must have five years of experience coordinating with DCFS and University program units in staff development and/or training for clinical skills.

Must have five years of administrative experience supervising employees, managing budgets, developing programs and working a contract or grant-funded program with DCFS.

Must have five years experience in foster care and adoptive services.
Appointment and Salary: This is a variable 100% term appointment through the end of the fiscal year. Contingent on performance and available funding, reappointment may be possible. Salary is commensurate with experience and background.
