The Linux Systems Administrator supports the installation, optimization, integration, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, modification, security and upgrading of YapStone’s systems in a production environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
System Resource Management;
Assist in optimizing the current system to improve security, stability and manageability;
Design and support server and storage systems, and supporting software;
Manage installation, OS Upgrades, configuration management, troubleshooting, performance analysis, disaster recovery planning and documentation;
Testing, planning and implementing changes during regular maintenance windows;
Work on new systems monitoring and other features with shell scripting;
Assist managing Global Nodes; and
Assist hosting and configuring Apache httpd and Tomcat.
Education and Experience
Five or more years of work experience managing, deploying, and troubleshooting Linux systems in a production support environment;
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or other technical area
Knowledge , Skills, and Abilities
Ability to script and automate routine administrative tasks
Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases is required;
Solid networking fundamentals
Familiarity with multiple Linux Distributions including deployment, administration, and patching;
Familiarity with RPM creation and deployment
Familiarity with source control systems, such as SVN, Mercurial, CVS, and git.
Superior written and oral communication skills in English;
Knowledge of networking equipment such as Juniper, Cisco, Foundary, or Sonicwall
Familiarity with PCI audits also a plus;
Ability to demonstrate a self-motivated, highly organized and innovative approach to work and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, multiple project environment;
Superior detail orientation, along with ability to think creatively and offer novel and elegant solutions to problems;
Superb organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills, with the ability to consistently use sound judgment;
