United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Labor Relations & Productivity Improvement Representative in the Employee Relations department at our Lorain, OH location.
The Representative will be responsible for various activities including:
• Administer the Basic Labor Agreement
• Govern the grievance procedure
• Investigate and compile facts for use in grievance meetings
• Hold and facilitate grievance hearings
• Counsel managers in resolving complaints and grievances and interact with Union officials
• Research, analysis, and appropriate application of arbitration precedent
• Negotiate settlements as appropriate and create and process pay letters for grievance settlements
• Maintain grievance database and records
• Enforce corporate policies and rules
• Ensure Proper Use of Progressive Discipline for Bargaining Unit Employees
• Interpret BLA and formulate strategic positions
• Ensure compliance with contracting out provisions
• Prepare and Present Cases for Arbitration and mini-arbitration
• Act as primary on-site official contact/resource for all outside legal and litigation issues
• Coordinate with Corporate Law Department
• Unemployment Compensation Claims
• Conduct investigations and prepare detailed responses
• Ensure Compliance with all federal and state laws and regulatory agencies. (OFCCP, EEOC)
• Counsel and train management on their rights and obligations
• Perform Legal Research
• Incentive administration, maintenance, and auditing
• Labor and Overtime Control
• Manpower tracking, reporting, and analysis
Skills Required:
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelors degree in Labor Relations or related field
• 3+ years related experience
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Juris Doctor degree or Masters in Labor Relations is a plus
• Industrial experience and Union contract experience is a plus
