Position Scope: The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for contacting customers that are past due and assisting the customer with getting their account current in a professional manner. They also evaluate necessary actions needed regarding preparation of uncollectible accounts for third-party and/or legal collections procedures. This is mainly a customer service type position that handles all aspects of customer account activity, including determination and creation of necessary credit memos, processing credit card payments, processing monthly statements, and finance charge billing, and special billing for National Accounts. Responsibilities: · Contacts customers that are past due and assisting the customer with getting their account current. Prepares uncollectible accounts for third-party and/or legal collections procedures. · Maintains the customer electronic files, database maintenance, and all sales tax exemptions and resale certificates. · Other Accounting duties include GL coding for payables and credit card expenses, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing procedures. · The Accounts Receivables Specialist actively participates in the continuous improvement of Optus by providing positive feedback, ideas and alternatives to management. · Models appropriate behavior in regards to Optus’ Core Values and supports Optus’ team approach to Quality.

REQUIREMENTS: A College Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred. Minimum two years accounting experience. Previous data entry skills, along with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience are preferred. Business classes may be substituted for comparable work experience. Must be a team player with a positive attitude and able to demonstrate excellent customer service. Strong written and verbal communication skills, a keen attention to detail and great organizational habits are preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Minimal to no travel to off-site locations.
Ability to read, write, and communicate both orally and written to external and internal customers and employees. Normal vision and normal hearing with or without correction. Ability to lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs., periodically, throughout workday. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, sit in one place, squat and kneel continuously throughout day. Ability to reach, bend, and twist continuously throughout day. Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions. Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing, as well as repetitive hand and wrist motions. Ability to work together effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
