This position is located in our Transport Unit, Columbia, SC

Serves as a first-line supervisor of other public safety personnel. Patrols assigned area at Transport Section to prevent crime and detect violations of law. Responds to complaints, reports of violations and requests for assistance. Issues warnings and citations to violators. Apprehends and arrests violators. Investigates hunting, boating and/or traffic accidents. Directs traffic and controls crowds. Performs general police work such as maintaining order during emergencies, participating in manhunts and providing executive protection. Testifies in court and other legal proceedings. Keeps records and makes reports regarding activities. Provides guidance and on-the-job training to other law enforcement personnel.

Minimum and Additional Requirements:

State Requirements : A high school diploma.

Agency Requirements : A High School Diploma and currently Certified as a Law Enforcement Officer (graduated 12 weeks Criminal Justice Academy in South Carolina, mandated by 23-23-40. Must have at least (3) year as a Certified Law Enforcement Officer.
You must pass premployment drug test, a psychological assessment and a physical prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer at least 3 years of experience in Law Enforcement. Have considerable knowledge of State Laws, rules, and regulations.
