Under immediate direction, receives and prepares blood samples for testing, performs computer functions , maintains supplies and equipment.
Performs duties in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
Complies with technical and administrative policies and procedures.
Contributes ideas for change to Operating Procedures (OPs) to team lead.
Checks all work and reports for completeness, accuracy and quality.
Confers with manager, supervisor or designee on any problems or discrepancies.
Assist testing shifts with additional duties as needed.
Performs client support functions for the department.
Interacts with customers by telephone and email to provide prompt, accurate response to customer inquiries and concerns.
Evaluates Specimen Issue Forms (SIFs) to ensure resolution of client paperwork and samples.
Notifies the appropriate Bonfils department of discrepant paperwork and or sample issue.
Prepares samples, requisitions and supplies.
Receives and prepares samples for testing.
Follows universal precautions.
Verifies samples requirements are met.
Ensures proper specimen handling.
Aliquot test samples, as needed, while maintaining sample integrity and identity.
Maintains and rotates samples and reagent storage.
Archives and locates samples as necessary for testing.
Enters samples into lab computer system for testing.
Prepares samples for send-out testing.
Maintains equipment, work area and supply systems.
Cleans and performs quality control, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
Reports any discrepancies, malfunctions or problems to manager, supervisor or designee.
Reviews vendor paperwork as needed.
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous Laboratory or
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong oral and written communications skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to read, write and speak fluent English
Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
Ability to hear alarms and determine when instrumentation needs technician intervention
to see full color spectrum
This is a full time, benefitted position reporting M-F from 2:30pm to 11pm with a rotating Saturday to our headquarters at 717 Yosemite Street, Denver CO 80230. The hourly pay is $12.47 to $14.82 dependent on experience.
