Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), Neuroscience and Magnetic Resonance Research Program (NMRRP), located at the Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.


DUTIES: Provides administrative services for the co-principal investigators (co-PI) of the NMRRP at QMC. Administrative and management functions are substantial due to the scope of the projects which includes several fully-funded research projects as well as support for out-of-state collaborators. Responsible for the operations activities of the NMRRP infrastructure, including management of its administrative facilities, projects, personnel, resources, and funds. Responsible for facilitating the hiring process by preparing job descriptions, monitoring recruitment process, and obtaining new hire documents for processing. Supervises staff responsible for procurement and disbursing functions of the program. Assists in maintaining budgets and monitors accounts to assure funding is available for various activities.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, or related field. Certification or training in Grants Management. EXPERIENCE: Four to six (4-6) years of progressively responsible experience in administrative/office management, including specialized research grants management and support experience in a research or biomedical program or related field. At least one (1) year of supervisory experience. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Working knowledge and proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook. Knowledge of office administration, workflow, planning/organizing, and general business/office practices. Knowledge of administrative management policies and procedures relating fiscal, accounting, and human resources processes. Proficient in electronic communications, such as e-mail, web/Internet enabled work processes. Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database programs. Able to plan and organize assigned activities. Able to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, or related field supplemented with Business courses. Substantial experience and familiarity with UH, RCUH and State policies, and procedures.
