We invite to explore the Operations Analyst at Microsoft Operations Puerto Rico.
This role is accountable to implement, monitor and maintain a world class application infrastructure to deliver releases and pre-release services by performing system administration tasks and react to monitoring alerts generated by various monitoring applications. Troubleshooting of moderate to complex issues involving Windows Server 2003/2008/2008R2/2012 and SQL 2000/2005/2008/2008R2/2012 will also be required. The candidate will be as the liaison between various production support teams and other tiered support teams (Networking, Data Center Operations, etc.)
Primary Responsibilities include:
o Implementing and acting as T3/T4 escalation point for infrastructure supporting critical applications for Microsoft Release Processes in Puerto Rico.
o Ensuring successful continuous operation of complex infrastructure in secure facility by implementing processes and procedures defined by our engineering team.
o Ongoing maintenance of servers, nHSM, SAN’s etc.
The candidate must have the following key technical skills:
o BA/BS degree in Computer Science, related discipline or equivalent work experience, MCSE, MCTIP: EA (2008) and/or CCNA preferred.
o Minimum of 3 years of experience administrating Windows 2003 and minimum of 2 years administering Windows 2008/2008R2.
o Server build, maintenance, security, keeping up to date with latest internal OS updates (IPAK’s) and security patches, configuring server for best performance etc.
o Minimum of 4 years of extensive experience administrating and building web sites in IIS 6.0 & IIS 7.x: Experience building web sites based on project build hand offs, troubleshooting site issues, and security administration are all a must. Coding skills are not essential.
o Monitor and respond alerts for pre-production servers, investigate to determine the root cause of system failures and/or hardware failures.
o Respond to escalated issues from Tier-2/Tier-3 requesting engineering assistance.
o Apply security patches to assigned servers
o Seek to improve operational processes associated with assigned servers
o PKI skills - building and maintaining Certificate Authorities, issuing smart cards, and troubleshooting
o Extensive experience in Microsoft Clustering - MSCS and NLB, both building and troubleshooting highly available systems
o Excellent knowledge of MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008/2008R2/2012 administration: Candidate must have proven experience setting up, administering, backing up and restoring SQL server databases, troubleshooting SQL issues, configuring SQL server for optimal performance etc. T-SQL coding not essential but a plus.
o Extensive experience troubleshooting network and connectivity issues which includes but not limited to IPsec, firewalls, etc.
o Extensive knowledge of DFS
o Experiences implementing 3 tier worldwide distributed applications delivered via a project using all of the above technologies, ensuring all of the individual components are working and the system as a whole functions correctly.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills (Bilingual English-Spanish preferred)
o Excellent organizational and technical writing skills
o Teamwork oriented and ability to work under pressure
o Critical thinking and problem solving skills
o Able to troubleshoot & ability to analyze complex problems quickly
