Cargill Texturizing Solutions is a leading supplier of gelling and thickening agents as well as emulsifiers, focusing on supplying the global food and beverage industries. Position Overview:
Located just 25 miles from the Chicago area, this position has over all management responsibilities of the Hammond Packaging Area. The Department Manager provides leadership, vision, strategy and tactical execution of tasks associated with the safe and efficient operation of the Packaging Area. The person in this role is expected to function as the operation leader of the department and a leader within the Hammond Management team reporting to the Operations Manager.

As a member of the management team, the Department Manager will be expected to partner with other areas of the plant to help the Hammond team achieve the overall site goals, ensure area alignment with performance expectations, behaviors and deliverables.

Principal Accountabilities:
30% -

Development and supervision of 3 direct and 36 indirect reports (coaching, goal setting and performance management) Work with peers at location to establish and implement consistent personnel policies, aligned talent management plans, and ensure alignment of overall expectations of direct reports across the Hammond team. Interact with other facilities to establish consistent plant practices. Manage area in a way that enables employees to be engaged and successful.

25% -

Develop strategies for safety, environment, operations and maintenance of the Packaging area to include technical optimization/improvement of processes driven by BBS data, performance metric data and the Reliability Excellence process. This involves leveraging applicable BU PDG, BU supply chain, and other Cargill technical/continuous improvement resources while partnering with the Maintenance Team Lead and Safety Team Lead align goals and success metrics.

20% -

Partner with Quality Management ensure food safety, quality, and customer satisfaction goals are achieved and develop the vision for reaching the next level in food safety and quality. Interface with customers on plant visits and audits.

Establish, implement and maintain area capital and operating budgets. Ensure the entire Packaging team understands how they impact the financial goals of the area and Hammond’s contribution to the CTS business.

Engage Finance Team Lead in aligning the financial vision for the packaging area with the rest of the Hammond site.

5% - Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Packaging Engineering

5+ years technical, production management, or supervisory experience

Knowledge of basic HR practices, EEO, etc.

Working knowledge of Food Safety, OSHA, and Environmental regulations

Ability to align team members with broader business goals with tactical vision of how each contributes to the overall vision

Proven mentoring and coaching abilities. Demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire others while driving individual accountability within the team

5+ years technical knowledge and experience with process unit operations - preferably in dry powders and/or packaging.

Demonstrated team building, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

Ability to effectively communicate (written, verbal, presentation skills) at multiple levels of Cargill and customer organizations
