GinfoS IT – The Global Information Solutions (GinfoS) organization participates in many of HP's top initiatives and key business processes. The Operational Excellence Team is involved in all phases of software delivery, and is focused on building a best-in-class Operations model, by centralizing key roles for the organization, and applying industry-leading methods. The team is looking for enthusiastic team players with good interpersonal skills, and who can work with minimal guidance from direct management.

Specifically, we are looking for an experienced Release Manager to help drive the release management processes in the organization, and provide immediate support of our current needs. This release management role will support multiple applications within our portfolio, and consists of Release Planning, Deployment Management, and QA Leadership. The right individual will be a self-starter, who can translate the intellectual vision into successful strategic and tactical solutions. This role is also focused on Continuous Improvement and Management of Change (MOC) in the organization, with the goal of driving a consistent and standardized model.

Key Deliverables/Goals for this role include:
o Manage the release calendar and planning activities for multiple applications, and resolve potential conflicts, as solutions pass through various environments

o Verify the final release package to be rolled out, then Monitor post-release validation and close-out

o Ensure alignment with upstream/downstream systems

o Direct activities to ensure that the release meets quality standards and performance objectives, including management of Test data refreshes, and overall Quality of releases

o Establish and maintain relationships with key decision-makers at all management levels, in order to: Communicate strategic IT decisions and plans to achieve alignment; leverage IT capabilities to deliver standard solutions and promote IT best practices across a variety of business functions, geographies and organizations

o Identifies the need for new IT processes as well as significant improvements to major IT processes and drives the development and implementation

o Leads internal driven projects to ensure process improvements related to quality and release management

o Manages corporate and third party vendor efforts to plan, build and implement solutions to internal problems and issues

Additional activities related to this role include:
o Manages internal project plans including WBS creation, and day-to-day task tracking

o Creates resource plans, and manages within set staffing guidelines

o Large/ complex/single or multiple regional impacts

o High risk mitigation planning

o Manages stakeholder relationships

o Manages virtual global team

o Mentors and encourages skill development of project team members

o Provides detailed input to performance reviews, and development recommendations for team members


The ideal candidate would:
o Work well in a distributed team environment

o Demonstrate strong, positive communication skills

o Possess excellent organization and project management skills

o Adapt in a rapidly changing environment

o Deep technical systems background

o Contract and vendor management

o Business Intelligence or Master Data expertise

o First level University degree

o 10+ years in Information Technology project or release management role

o 5+ years in architecture, application development, programmer, or technical infrastructure role

o Large scale systems implementation (must have)

o Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of key operational policies, processes and methodologies applicable to project management

o Speaks with authority to most layers of depth related to project management methods

o ITIL certification desired

o Quality process certification desired (e.g. black belt, 6 sigma)

o Has successfully led at least 2 large initiatives end-to-end

o Can show examples of successfully led initiatives with contributions having significant impact on business (Quality, Cost, Efficiency, TCE)

o Project spans one or multiple regions
