Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Sr. Database Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in the Annapolis Junction, MD area.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Sr. Database Administrator will implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases. Conduct performance tuning of indexes and databases in general. Review database design and integration of systems, provide backup recovery and make recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintain security and integrity controls. Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitor transaction activity and utilization. May develop stored procedures and/or triggers.
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
Shall have 10 years of experience (or 6 years with a BS degree in a technical field) in developing relational database software and must have experience with one or more relational database products.
Experience in MYSQL
ORACLE Performing Tuning experience
Database administration background
Extensive experience, technical knowledge and hands-on implementation experience in developing non-proprietary database solutions to augment indexing and query functionality to achieve end-to-end system specifications.
Experience with Linux server and desktop operating systems.
BASH, C/C++, and/or Python knowledge
Ability to work in a fast pace agile environment
Experience in resolving database problems and issues and the ability to create new features/functionality for existing databases.
Experience in supporting the development of long-term architectural storage solutions based on customer’s business requirements
Position requires a current TS/SCI with Polygraph Clearance.
Database engineering skills.
Experience with data modeling for physical as well as logical models.
Database architecture skills.
Ability to document processes.
Ability to respond to crises objectively.
Ability to evaluate project needs and allocate resources.
Understanding of OS platforms.
Knowledge in programming language.
Organizational and management skills.
Experience in resolving complex situations for operational mission critical systems.
