To assist in research projects and related activities under the supervision of a Research Scientist especially as they relate to marine biological mapping, assessment, monitoring, and restoration.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Assist and participate in benthic habitat mapping activities including field data collection and Geographic Information System (GIS) data creation, manipulation, and analysis. 2. Assist and participate in planning, organizing, and conducting present and future biological monitoring assessment and restoration projects. 3. Assist in Caribbean benthos and fish identification. 4. Report preparation, data entry and management, and organize databases. 5. Maintain SCUBA dive locker, equipment, and research field equipment. 6. Assist in processing check requests, purchase orders, and ordering supplies and equipment for scientific projects. 7. Assist in boat operations and maintenance. 8. Other duties as needed.

1. Extensive knowledge of computer software necessary for project advancement. 2. Planning and organizational skills. 3. Knowledge of coral reef assessment and monitoring. 4. Boat handling skills. 5. Knowledge in Caribbean coral identification. 6. Knowledgeable and proficient in underwater benthic surveys.
AAUS Certified Diver
Major (if required):
Biology or related field
Six (6) to twelve (12) months of lab experience.
