Install, configure and maintain an organization's operating system, hardware and peripheral components. Analyze and resolve problems associated with server hardware and applications software.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Performs software installation, upgrades and maintenance.
Applies necessary software fixes. Monitoring systems and performance. Performs problem determination. Isolates problems within the infrastructure.
Performs diagnostic routines. Installs and configures new hardware. Provides LPAR configuration and support.
Participates in root-cause analysis of recurring issues, capacity planning, security set-up and enforcement, documenting processes by writing technical documents.
Performs back-up and restores and runs basic shell scripts.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Nature and Scope

Demonstrates skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data.
Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues. Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process.
May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel or professional personnel.
Work Environment

Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8 - 20 pounds).
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Essential Skills

Minimum Qualifications

Must be eighteen years of age
Must pass the Drug Test
Must pass the Background Check
Must pass pre-employment tests if applicable
Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline. Generally 2-5 years of experience in related field; certification is required in some areas OR MS/MA and generally 2-4 years of experience in related field. Certification is required in some areas.
Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 2-5 years’ experience as a Computer Operator or System Administrator of a large Data Center.
Ability to multi-task.
Experience monitoring Unix, Linux, & Windows Server, VOIP Phone, Appliance and Tape Libraries.
VERITAS Netback up experience.
Job Scheduler experience, preferable UC4.
Can work Tuesday thru Saturday 7am until 3:30pm and some holidays.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
