The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a research facility of the Louisiana State University System, is seeking a full time Patient Interaction Specialist. Current positions available will be working in Baton Rouge/Lafayette/Houma/New Orleans and Shreveport. The Patient Interaction Specialist is an integral member of the Network Evaluation Support Team (NEST) and the LSU Improving Clinical Outcomes Network (LSU ICON). The Patient Interaction Specialist will work on a variety of tasks to assist in the development of the NEST infrastructure and will be the primary facilitator of the quality improvement (QI) projects supported by LICON. Some travel within the state will be required until a Patient Interaction Specialist is in place at every hospital within the network, reimbursement will be provided. This position will provide project and administrative support to the NEST Director. Provide direct on-site and telephone support for clinics participating in LSU ICON projects. Develop working relationships with on-site project teams and clinic staff at multiple out-patient clinical sites, including off-site out-patient clinics associated with the hospital. Develop rapport with critical clinic staff, problem solve, and establish systems fitting the culture of the individual site. Patient recruiting, data collection, data reporting activities such as developing databases, scheduling and conducting subject interviews, downloading data from on-line surveys, extracting medical and demographic data from medical records, administering patient questionnaires, extracting and reporting quality metrics from a variety of proprietary databases and communication of results in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and RedCap.
Bachelors degree. Experience in primary care service and/or implementation of practice-based quality improvement projects or medical research. Familiarity interacting with patients within the LSU Hospital System including appointment scheduling, clinic operations, and resource scheduling is a plus. Experience with CLIQ or PELICAN preferred but not required. Computer literacy needed for data entry and data management. Experience in communication with medical providers, researchers, quality improvement teams and a clinic manager is desired. Must hold a valid driver's license and have dependable transportation for which mileage traveled will be reimbursed through project resources at the current state level. The candidate must be self-motivated, goal orientated with a proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access)and able to juggle multiple projects.
