Responsible for combined role of communications related to Emergency Transport Service as well as driving the neonatal/pediatric and adult ground transport ambulance for patient transport. While in the communication office, the technician is responsible for flight communications, use of the radio consoles, recording equipment, telephone/paging system, receiving and relaying critical information, coordinating efforts of referring/receiving hospitals, assisting with loading/off loading the helicopters, and flight following for air medical missions. Communication technicians will provide ground transportation regionally for neo/pediatric transport team as well as ascertaining road worthiness of ground ambulances and basic maintenance/cleaning of same.

Exhibit skill in safe emergency driving techniques.
Demonstrate proficiency in use of various radio/electronic equipment.
Maintain appropriate critical decision making skills in high stress environment.
Prior knowledge of basic informational questions related to particular injuries/illnesses.
Basic medical terminology
Preferred Education / Experience
High school diploma, Current Kentucky EMT certificate, current CPR certification. current valid Kentucky driver's license required.
Prefer at least 2 years experience as EMT for ground ambulance service. Also, knowledge of EMS communications procedures, and basic understanding of diesel ambulance operations.
