Job Summary: Responsible for the coordination, implementation and performance of site engineering activities in support of the DUF6 conversion project at their assigned site location (Piketon). Responsibilities: Responsible for the day-to-day site engineering activities in support of the DUF6 conversion project. Manages and maintains a staff of qualified engineers with technical expertise to control facility and system modifications. Coordinates and maintains communication with the Site Engineering Manager at each location to ensure both plants maintain the same technical baseline to the extent possible.
Promoting responsible empowerment and the core values: safety, integrity, accountability, teamwork excellence, and leadership. Develops and implements a process for transfer of knowledge from the process and balance of plant engineering groups to the plant operations organizations. Works with the engineering and design team and ES&H staff to ensure structures, systems, and components meets radiation and environmental regulations as low as reasonably achievable principles. Performs risk management analyses and implements risk-reducing designs, processes, and procedures.
Oversees the review and approval of the process and facility designs to ensure technical adequacy and the process design meets the conversion goals of the project and configuration control. Identifies applicable systems that will be assigned to a qualified System Engineer. Defines minimum training requirements for all System Engineer personnel. Assigns systems to a System Engineer with the required requisite knowledge of the system’s safety design basis and operating limits.
Ensures work on configured items are reviewed and approved by the appropriate System Engineer. Approves safety surveillances that are added, deleted, or modified. Implements the System Engineer Program with a graded approach tailored to facility hazards. Keeps the Chief Engineer and Plant Manager advised on progress, performance and manpower utilization.
Serves as back-up to the Chief Engineer as required/designated. Accountable for facility and contract performance, fiscal/resource stewardship and cost effective business operations. Performs all other position related duties as requested or assigned. Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education and Experience): Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science degree 10 or more years of progressive work experience, with two of those years acting in a supervisory capacity.
4+ years nuclear experience Working knowledge of computers, computer systems and software application programs. Special Requirements and/or Training: Demonstrated project management skills Extensive technical knowledge of UF6 process systems and Safety Basis documentation preferred. Familiar with DOE & ASME NQA-1 nuclear requirements and regulatory standards preferred. Extensive technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, and application of engineering methods and materials preferred.
Must have exceptional written and spoken communication and analytical skills to effectively communicate with all level of management and site personnel.
