DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Group Sales is responsible for assisting sales and marketing efforts directed by DOS. Maintain sales efforts to achieve established budgeted revenues; maintain own account base, solicit new business, monitor competitive field and attend various public relations functions.

DUTIES

DUTIES: 1. To respond promptly to all inquiries and correspondence from customers. 2. To respond promptly to requests by the Director of Sales & Marketing for reports and other assignments. To do own filing and trace follow-ups.3. To properly maintain files and accounts. To attend all Sales Training Seminars assigned to the individual. 4. To set up working relationships with other areas of the hotel's operations such as Front Office, Reservations, Accounting, Convention and Catering services. 5. To be aware of the competition from other hotels within the local area.6. To follow up with the client once the meeting is in progress to ensure repeat business.7. This position consists of 30% outside calls.8. To be aware of the scope of fellow Sales Managers' responsibilities so that five leads a month can be generated.9. Prepare month end reports on a timely basis. Assist in preparation of Annual Expense and Revenue Budget & Marketing Plan. Assist in the direction of Sales team. Compile monthly sales figures and report accordingly to DOS and head office. Run all month end reports in computer system.10. Help lead sales force by example in social activities, client outings, and in room night & revenue production. Assist DOS with sales/marketing projects.11. To organize customer events, tradeshows, travel schedules and other non office related promotions.12. Attend meetings/functions in absence of DOS where deemed appropriate.13. Maintain sales office functions in absence of DOS and assist in running sales related meetings when required; i.e. resume, sales & catering, etc.14. Ensure lead responses are answered within 24 hour window, to ensure repeat business.15. Achieve monthly booking goals agreed upon with DOS and GM.17. Supports and participates in hotel recycling program.18. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires excellent communication and organizational skills, and previous business experience. Prefer 3-5 years minimum hotel sales experience and/or familiarity with hotel operations. Prefer some higher education.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lifting 15 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 5 pounds. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.MATH SKILLS: Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: Apply fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must have developed English language skills to the point to be able to: Communicate effectively (both written and orally) with other employees, guests or vendors as needed. Must be able to read and comprehend written information.RELATIONSHIPS TO DATA, PEOPLE AND THINGS: DATA: Coordination: Determination of time, place, and sequence of operations or actions to be taken on the basis of analysis of data, as well as executing determination and/or reporting on events.PEOPLE: Determining or interpreting work procedures while maintaining harmonious relations and promoting efficiency. A variety of responsibilities is involved in this function.THINGS: Handling: Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move, or carry objects or materials. Involves little or no latitude for judgment with regard to attainment of standards or in selecting appropriate tool, object or material.TO DO THIS JOB, YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES BEFORE BEING HIRED: High school diploma or equivalent required. NOTE: This hotel operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. I am aware that at times it will be necessary to move me from my accustomed shift if business demands. I also understand that business determines the amount of hours I work. Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of this position at any time. DUTIES: 1.
