Sodexo is seeking an innovative, creative and successful Catering Manager 3 for our campus account at New Mexico State University - one of the largest Land Grant Universities in North America. The campus is located in the beautiful city of Las Cruces, NM. NMSU dining has a very diverse population of students, employees, faculty and staff as well as a large variety of dining options. Our catering events are held all over campus as well as in the Las Cruces Community. We are responsible for a full service restaurant with a Full Bar set up where many catered events are held. We are building our catering department from the ground up which is a very exciting time for our campus. Ideal Catering Manager candidate will be the “ face of Sodexo Catering at NMSU” and have a proven track record with:
College/university catering management or similar – averaging 15 or more events per day
Supervising, training and scheduling a large catering staff –
Coordinating all types of catering and banquet events – on and off site – that provide the WOW factor for our clients and customers.
Building catering sales – for on or off site events – go after the sales.
Developing innovative menus while working with the client or customer – and working with Exec Chef for high end events.
Event pre planning, coordination, set-up and execution will be key.
And MUST have strong client interaction and customer service skills as these are core components of this position .
Position requires flexibility to work day, evening and weekend hours as business needs require as well as the ability to juggle multiple and conflicting priorities.
New Mexico State is located in Las Cruces New Mexico we are an 11 million dollar account with multiple locations. Our Catering Department's managed volume is around 850K annually. We have a multi-talented Chef on site to assist with selling of catering events, taste testing and overall culinary support. This position reports to the Director of Operations and works very closely with the Resident District Manager.

Manages all catered events. Hires, schedules, and trains catering staff. Works with clients/customers to arrange and follow through on all catering details and to ensure all special requests are met. Directs setup for events. Responsible for pricing, billing and resolving customer complaints. Develops menu/costing.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
