A Medidata Director of Project Management Office (PMO) will manage the project management team responsible for coordinating and managing the release of multiple products and the internal services which support them. Key responsibilities of the PMO include developing and publishing metrics on performance of the R&D organization, and progress towards corporate initiatives. This will include creation and support of standards, processes and systems, to manage the PMO and its goals. The Director, PMO will summarize and present key metrics, roadmaps, risks, and manage the resource utilization activities within the R&D team.

The Director, PMO will work closely with all stakeholders in the release management process to drive the development of highly quality, high value software products within an Agile environment. They will also manage and mentor junior members of the team, and ensure consistent execution across all projects under management.

Responsibility Overview:
Lead staff development efforts for PMO project managers.

Line manage and mentor staff executing projects. Ensure they follow the Project Management responsibilities. (below)

Line manage additional managers who are also supervising Project Managers

Develop, update, and present metrics on delivery, quality, and execution across the platform.

If necessary, provide project management leadership for large company-wide programs

Project Management Responsibilities:
Full accountability for the management of project timelines, scope and milestones for a variety of projects. Manage the complete Software Development Lifecycle, or milestones for infrastructure projects.

Serve as an interface between module and solution owners, hosting, professional services, and support.

Oversee product releases by coordinating Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, Technical Communications, Knowledge Management, Internal Compliance, Application Support, Delivery Services, Operations, Sales, Marketing, Reporting, and Technical Communicators.

Anticipate risks and communicate these risks/issues to management, and offer creative solutions.

Oversight of multiple vertical teams in the agile environment. Pro-active communication with all stakeholders.

Responsible for deliverables including project plans, issues lists, status reports, and meeting agendas with action items.

Participate in SCRUM kick-off and daily SCRUM meetings with R&D to review cross project progress including deliverables and action items.

Responsible for the tracking documentation, including specifications, validation plans, installation/operational/performance qualifications, validation summaries, etc.

Qualifications:
Four-year college degree or higher preferred, analytic discipline a plus.

10+ years experience in software development or IT environment

10+ years experience in general project management

5+ years experience in software project management

5+ years experience directly managing people within a group or department

3+ years experience managing project teams of 5 or more people

2+ years experience in an agile development environment preferred

Background in project management practices, and large scale systems implementation preferred, PMI certification and background in a regulated environment a plus,

A history of successfully delivering commercial software products and or IT projects on-time, on-budget with the agreed upon scope.

Excellent project management, communication, verbal and organizational skills required.

Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and Visio, or comparable products.
