The Planner Buyer Scheduler (PBS) function falls within the Materials Management Department, and is responsible for the management of materials and schedules to ensure customers order promise dates are met. The PBS communicates with the Customer Service Representative and Manufacturing Director prior to acceptance and scheduling of the order, to establish if customer request dates can be met. Once the order is processed, the PBS will ensure all materials will be available to fill the customer order and that sufficient resources will be available. The PBS is responsible for defining order-specific billing commitments, and ensuring that such commitments are achieved.
Performs all tasks associated with the planning, buying and scheduling of all components and resources to support the production schedule. Has overall responsibility for ensuring correct, sufficient materials and resources will be available to manufacture customer orders as agreed upon.
Ensures that all components that are required to support customer orders are on site and released when needed. At the same time, ensures that only components that are needed for the given time period, are procured, and is measured for performance in terms of Days Inventory on hand.
Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities:
Is responsible for the planning and procurement of all material components required to complete the job. Ensures customer orders are being handled in the appropriate priority.
Must ensure that sufficient material is available to support production, while not procuring excessive inventory that will be prone to obsolescence. Serves as Master Scheduler to schedule orders into Fill and Lyo lines to optimize key operational metrics of On Time Delivery and Order Cycle Time. Ensures customer service levels, as reflected by On Time Delivery and Cycle Time (or other appropriate metrics) are maximized. Establishes and modifies Kanban Bin/ROP signal levels based on adjustments in the production plan. Creates and tracks general Purchase Orders. Communicates order progress and status updates companywide.
Tracks customer supplied materials to ensure material is available and released to meet schedule and QA release timelines. Interprets and communicates special requirements to appropriate personnel. Verifies and monitors receipt of data, specifications and materials required to meet production schedule. Monitors and maintains inventories and inventory reporting. Enters appropriate information into the Product Master, Bills-of-Material, Process Specs, etc. Meets frequently with Customer Service Representatives and Line Managers to review order statuses and to provide feedback regarding outstanding required information. Creates, Monitors and updates the manufacturing work orders in the ERP system as required.
Monitors and updates production schedule. Participates in customer meetings, as needed.
Supports projects and miscellaneous activities as deemed appropriate by the Materials Manager.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in materials planning and procurement preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills are required.
