The Business Analyst participates in developing business requirements, testing, training and implementation of applications; conducts business process analyses, needs assessments and preliminary cost/benefits analysis in an effort to align information technology with business initiatives; formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a thorough understanding of business systems and industry requirements; and devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering technology limitations, operation times, and form of desired result.
§ Conduct business process/needs analyses and make decisions based on documented business opportunities, risks and success factors of potential application. Work with PLM in establishing a documented business case with preliminary cost/benefits analysis in an effort to align product development with business opportunities.
§ Actively participate in the product line vision and development planning process helping to ensure R&D dollars are invested on the most needed and highly valued capabilities.
§ Formulate and define systems scope and objectives based on both client needs and a thorough understanding of business and industry requirements.
§ Create written documentation of requirements and business design, and serve as consultant on requirements documentation created by team members.
§ Work with all levels of functional users to develop an understanding of the users business technology needs and the performance requirements.
§ Responsible for coordinating business requirements with applicable business units, including the following:
§ Develop business requirements for major enhancements, new development, minor enhancements, and resolution of defects.Gather, evaluate and prioritize enhancement requests considering roadmap implications and make recommendations as to which is the greatest need
§ Attend and/or drive design sessions and review functional specifications as needed
§ Coordinate acceptance of functional requirements for all forms of product development.
§ Support initiation and/or perform the completion of user acceptance testing.
§ Provide on going direction and answer clarifying questions for Partner personnel related to business domain subject matter expertise.
§ Facilitate functional requirements definition sessions between clients, knowledgeable business representatives, Harris, and Partner personnel.
§ Manage user expectations related to performance of proposed solutions, usability, business workflow implications, risk assessment and system functionality.
§ Coordinate activities and communications with the end user groups; frequent inter-organizational contact also required.
§ Provide product knowledge support and industry best practices to other areas of the organization as required.
§ Support response to support department on questions and issues
§ Troubleshoot issues on product functionality
§ Assist in end user training as needed.
§ Collaborate with Software Design Engineers on product development activities.
§ May guide and advise less experienced Business Analysts as needed/required.
§ Bachelors degree
§ 3+ years work experience in related field
§ 3 years of work experience MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio)
§ Ability to travel domestically or internationally as needed for business execution
Preferred Additional Skills:
§ MBA or equivalent degree preferred
§ Experience with the Novar/OSi Traffic System
§ Exceptional communication skills - written, verbal and presentation - with internal and external parties
§ Training in college level computer systems preferred.
§ Prior experience in a managed service environment highly desirable
§ Ability to handle diverse, complex assignments concurrently
§ 3+ years experience in media business or adjacent markets preferred
§ Experience with Use Case methodology preferred or familiarity with User Stories
§ Must possess a strong customer focus.
§ Strong business acumen.
