OHIO UNIVERSITY EASTERN is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of English, specifically a generalist in English and American Literature with expertise in writing instruction. This opening is available August 26, 2013.
To teach freshman and junior composition and to teach sophomore and upper division survey courses in English and American Literature. The workload will be eight courses per year (12 credit hours per semester), academic advising, committee assignments, scholarship and professional development, campus and university governance, and encouragement in research and community service. Some reductions in course load are available. It is expected that faculty will modify courses for distance learning where appropriate.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching in a regional campus setting.
Ohio University Eastern Campus is one of five regional campuses of Ohio University offering twelve bachelor’s degrees, and the first year of general studies in many majors. Approximately fifteen tenured or tenure-track faculty, and five non-tenure track faculty teach at the campus. Located in the Ohio Valley, Ohio University Eastern is a non-residential campus with approximately 1000 students.
