POSITION SUMMARYThe Application Developer II will be responsible for maintenance, support, and development of our internal applications and tools. A successful candidate will be expected to: Identify and remediate production support issues.Implement enhancements to internal applications.Occasionally work evenings and weekends so that deadlines are met.Join a rotation of staff that provides 24-hour support for urgent production issues.Responsibilities include but not limited to: - Manipulate MySQL tables that house data for our applications.- Develop reusable scripts and SAS programs to transform data into a formatted output.- Design and develop solutions for three-tiered web applications.- Implement software design changes quickly and efficiently.- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues potentially including: SAS processes, Unix/Linux Operating Systems, Data Synchronization, Data Integrity, Application Server Technologies, Browser Compatibility and third-party software.- Assist other developers and other groups in identifying and correcting issues with data and/or programs.
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSSAS Base Programming Certification for SAS 9 is a plus.REQUIRED SKILLS- A minimum of 3 years of professional experience developing software.- Proficient at writing code in a High Level Language (C, C++, Java, Python, or similar).- Intermediate level Unix/Linux ability, including Perl/Unix Shell scripting experience.- Experience working on a team of developers, adhering to coding and design standards.ADDITIONAL SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED- Some SQL programming experience.- Strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) background preferable.- Ability to learn unknown languages and technologies quickly.- Ability to identify opportunities to maximize efficiency.- Meticulous attention to detail.- Ability to communicate with development team as well as technical and non-technical coworkers.- Worked with source control systems and familiar with good development methodologies.- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
