The Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), the municipal civil service commission for the City of New York, seeks to hire an Assistant General Counsel to work in the general area of employment law. The selected candidate will represent the City of New York before the City Civil Service Commission (“CCSC”) on cases of disqualification of candidates from positions in the civil service and research and advise on employment laws and personnel rules and regulations. Additionally, the selected candidate will assist on litigation brought against the agency in the areas of personnel and civil service law and monitor and respond to EEO complaints filed with federal, state and local human rights agencies.
Minimum Qual Requirements
Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.
This class of positions has a maximum two year term (typically resolved by promotion, if all requirements are met, to the next civil service title, Agency Attorney)
