To provide design services in support of a project as part of the project team and, timely production of detailed and accurate drawings according to project scope. Working effectively with other project team members as needed. Acts as a day-to-day supervisor to CAD Technicians assigns their work, answers questions, checks their work for accuracy and provides guidance., is able to design and layout engineering drawings with little direction. May assign the final CAD work to a CAD Technician. May secure permits from the appropriate bureaucratic agency. May assist in the preparation of environmental impact studies, doing drawing or sketching as required. Is accomplished in computer-aided drafting. May design areas, such as the routing of piping within a project, the calculation of electrical loads, or the design of recovery systems in a waste treatment plant, but this expertise is of a practical rather than a theoretical nature. Should be included in all in house project progress meetings.
7-10 years of progressive experience in design for municipal water/wastewater, utility infrastructure and storm water projects. A vocational certificate or two year degree in civil technology preferred, but not required. Able to prepare construction drawings in AutoCAD 2008. Able to complete work consistently within established budgets and possess the flexibility to accommodate varying project demands. Must be detail oriented and have the ability to maintain a high level of precision and accuracy and be methodical in approach to the work. A valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record required.
