Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment by an attending physician. Diagnostic Imaging: Ages of patients served includes newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. Testing and Triage: Ages of patients served includes adolescent and adult groups. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
Accountability:
Performs ultrasound techniques and examinations including abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, small parts, and minor surgical procedures
Positions and transfers patients comfortably
Selects and operates equipment; selects proper technical factors based on individual patient needs assessment
Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with sonogram; maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patient
Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient exams
Assists physician in administering medicines as required
Maintains aseptic work area; maintains adequate supply levels
Develops films by automatic processing; evaluates sonograms for technical quality
Performs quality assurance tasks in calibrating and adjusting equipment
Assists designated supervisor in monitoring inventory
Educates staff in didactic and/or clinical techniques of diagnostic sonography
Required to participate in mandatory call in Diagnostic Imaging

Education Requirements:
Ultrasonography Committee on Allied Health and Accreditation (AMA) program graduate
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Registered member of American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers
CPR Certification or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position
Physical Demands Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Testing Requirements:
Tuberculin Skin Test required annually
Working Conditions Requirements: Medium hazard exposure: Involves moderate exposure to physical risks, i.e., extreme exposure to chemicals, dangerous equipment and/or materials requiring basic safety precautions
