AREA DIRECTOR - SOUTH FLORIDA (Miami)
Autism Speaks is the world's largest autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure for autism. We currently have a rewarding (new) career opportunity available for an experienced Area Director - South Florida (Miami, Palm Beach, Broward) to join our growing organization.
The selected individual will be responsible for driving revenue through walks and events, strengthening existing markets and identifying and developing new markets. Must be experienced in staff management and volunteer leadership development. This position reports to the Executive Director - South Florida Chapter, which is based in Miami, FL.
Primary responsibilities of the Area Director - South Florida
o Drive revenue through walks and special events in Miami, Palm Beach and Broward
o Direct cultivation of corporate donors through grants, sponsorship and material/in-kind donations; direct the cultivation and acquisition of major gifts' prospects with National/Regional Leadership Giving staff and volunteers
o Implement Walk strategies for corporate sponsors, team recruitment/retention, media outreach, wrap-around fundraising events and communications plan
o Supervise/oversee Walk staff (Directors/Managers/Coordinator) in the region
o Establish with Field leadership timelines, revenue goals, expense budget and participant recruitment strategies
o Evaluate performance, provide coaching and development of field staff and volunteers
o Manage annual Walk administration: logistics, acknowledgments and materials management
o Prepare reports for each area with comprehensive revenue/timeline data in conjunction with Field Operations management
o Give presentations to corporations, organizations and community groups in order to solicit donations and recruit teams of walkers and volunteers
o Oversee integration of social marketing initiatives throughout region
The qualified candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree; 5+ years of fundraising and event experience, and a minimum of 3+ years of staff and volunteer management experience, preferably in not for profit. The ability to think strategically and execute a well-developed fundraising plan is essential for success in this position, in addition to demonstrated leadership and team-building skills. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred. A solid track record in budgeting, metrics, financial projections is required. Proficiency with MS Office, Excel, Outlook and Power Point is required, with database knowledge (Raiser's Edge and/or Kintera) preferred. Flexibility to work nights and weekends during walk season/special events, and travel within the South Florida region.
