Position Summary: An Assistant Store manager is responsible for assisting the Store Manager with store operations by supervising the sales staff and sales floor, ensuring that all company policies and procedures are followed and keeping the Store Manager informed of all activities and problems. Provides superior customer service per Company standards, processes sales quickly, accurately and efficiently, follows cash register operations, arranges, organizes and displays merchandise, maintains a clean and organized shopping environment and safeguards company assets.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Customer Service: Smiling, providing a shopping cart, advertisement, talking up promotional items, determining customer needs, resolving customer problems and handling customer complaints, answering the telephone and providing information as requested. Following zoning responsibilities and ensuring team does the same.

Operating the cash register: Processing customer transactions, processing credit cards, checks, merchandise credits, gift cards, cash and discounts properly. Counting and balancing the cash drawer. Processing customer refunds per the refund policy. Following established policies and procedures for verifying payment and ensuring accuracy. Notifying SM and RLPM of any discrepancies
Processing merchandise: Unloading trucks, sorting merchandise, stocking shelves, counters, racks and tables, organizing, rearranging and repackaging merchandise and returning misplaced items to correct locations. Preparing displays and ad sets. Participating in inventory.

Supervising: Will oversee and supervise the store in coordination with the Store Manager. Conducts daily deposits, processes opening and closing paperwork and procedures. Participates in training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work. Ensures employees are following customer service directives and completing daily tasks.

Performs other store duties as needed to ensure smooth operations and to meet customer needs.

Customer Focus: Able to handle all aspects of the customers' needs including product knowledge, proper merchandising of store, maintaining a clean, neat and organized shopping environment and handling all customer complaints to a happy and satisfactory resolve.

Results Driven: Is self motivated and possesses a good knowledge of store merchandising, operations, and retail management practices and procedures. Prepares work plans and works with team members to achieve goals, make budgets, win contests, etc.

Directing and Coaching Others: Has experience in teaching, training, delegating and directing work in all aspects of the retail store including Operations, Customer Service, Loss Prevention, Human Resources and Merchandising.

Professionalism: Able to represent Anna's Linens in all aspects of business - with customers, team members, vendors and other Anna's employees in a professional and presentable manner. Demonstrates a friendly, positive and upbeat attitude and is able to get along with co-workers, customers, other Anna's employees and vendors. Presents a neat personal appearance including being clean, well-groomed, adhering to the dress code and behavior standards at all times. Handles stressful situations in a professional and calm manner.

Managerial Courage: Able and willing to deal directly and promptly with complaints, issues or problems that arise in the store and to successfully resolve. Coach and discipline team members consistently and fairly. Able to make and execute tough decisions when required.

Communication: Able to read and interpret common retail information, policies/procedures, financial reports and legal documents. Able to clearly communicate daily directives, goals and operational expectations to team.

Leadership: Is regarded by many as a leader and mentor. Experienced in selecting, assessing, coaching and development associates in a retail environment. Must be able and willing to work during critical retail timeframes including days, nights, weekends, holidays, specials sales and inventories.

Business Ethics: Is honest, dependable, trustworthy and demonstrates these behaviors through attendance, work practices, conduct and ensures his/her coworkers to do the same. Follows all company policies and procedures and alerts Store Manager and/or the Regional Loss Prevention manager to unethical behavior.

Additional Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and have mobility to move freely throughout store on a continual basis throughout the workday. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk, sit and talk. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, staple, or feel; reach with hands and arms; lift overhead, push, climb or balance on a ladder; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and may frequently be required to lift up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.

Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

Ability to speak, read, write and understand English as it relates to conversing with customers and employees, training materials, employee handbook, manuals, Daily Sheets, weekly checklists, task lists, product information, ads, brochures, website, merchandise tickets, sales receipts, posters, signs, banners, emails, plan-o-grams, etc.

Ability to perform basic math functions including comparing, counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing numbers in order to operate the register, make change, take inventory, stock products, look-up information, etc. Ability to operate a computer and possess general computer skills and knowledge.
