Assistant Student Publications Manager, Student Publications
Assist with the management and operations of the Student Publications office within the frame of Gonzaga University’s Mission, Vision, and Values. Student Publications includes The Gonzaga Bulletin student newspaper, Spires’ yearbook, Reflection Journal, Charter Journal, One World Journal, Culture Shock Journal, online versions of the publications and the work of the Publications Board.
Monday through Friday with some hours after 5:00 pm during the regular school year and occasional weekends.

Advise, hire, supervise, train and evaluate the student advertising staff. Staff includes sales manager, sales executives, layout editor, marketing manager, graphic designers and distribution associates.
Manage and evaluate the annual advertising revenue and expense budgets including annual revenue goals.
Supervise production of all advertising content in publications.
Manage the customer relations and scheduling database for the advertising.
Develop sales and administrative materials to support advertising.
Collaborate with and support the Gonzaga Bulletin Editor-n-Chief and faculty advisers.
Work with the Business Operations Manager regarding accounts payable and receivable.
Work with newspaper publisher, printers and other vendors on publication schedule, rates, and all other issues.
Manage publication distribution and Gonzaga Bulletin stands on campus.
Assist with the management of the other operations in the Student Publications Office including the work of the Student Publications Board.
Co-manage the work of the annual marketing plan, the development of promotional materials, publicity events and readership surveys.
Co-manage the payroll for all student employees including the completion of PAR forms and management of the web time entry system.
Co-manage and plan student training sessions.
Provide monthly reports on the business and advertising operations.
Maintain the electronic archive of student publications photographs.
Oversee the photo sharing of archived images.
Co-manage the repair maintenance of the computers and equipment of Student Publications.
Coordinate Student Publications needs with Communication Arts Lab Manager in CG 434.
Some staffing is required during the week and weekends after regular business hours.
Provide support to the Student Publications Manager in the administration of the Publications Board including orientations, meetings, interviews and all other Publications Board work, includes the implementation of the Student Publications Year End Awards for the Student Life Banquet.
Participate in conferences and other professional development opportunities and trainings.
Assist Student Publications Manager in any other requested tasks.
Reports directly to the Student Publications Manager.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
3+ years of professional work experience.
1 year experience in sales, marketing and/or management.
Must be proficient in MS Office.
Ability to use both a MAC and a PC.
Candidates must have work experience that demonstrates high level of writing, organizational skills, leadership skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
The person must have the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision on complex and multiple assignments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the general public.
Possess strong spelling, grammar, punctuation, and proof-reading skills and have the ability to compose effective professional correspondence.
Ability to maintain professional composure in multi-faceted, fast paced work environment.
2 years of experience working on student or college newspaper or journal.
1 year experience working as a manger or supervisor.
1 year experience in selling display advertising in newspapers or other publications.
Work experience in an advertising agency.
Work experience with online advertising.
Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite
Most duties performed sitting, but also involve moderate walking, standing, bending kneeling, stooping, carrying and lifting (max 30lbs.)
