Position overviewThe delivery of infrastructure solutions require a variety of skills including infrastructure architecture design, hands-on build-out and configuration of the infrastructure and management of the application container. Working with NMG Infrastructure and Applications development teams and consulting partners, the Senior Engineer that fills this position will lead the initiatives to recommend and implement RedHat Linux infrastructure solutions that are technically sound, resilient to failure, operationally supportable, and meets the stated business requirements. This individual will serve the Redhat LINUX project needs for the NMG Enterprise.
The individual were seeking can boast of the following experiences and characteristics: Strong RedHat Linux experiences. Design and implementations experiences in addition to a history of day-to-day maintenance/administration duties.Experiences in leveraging RedHat Linux in an enterprise environment.Application Server implementation and tuning expertise. Websphere/Weblogic, Apache/Topcat or JBoss. JBoss experience is a plus.Current, large enterprise-class Infrastructure/System Engineering experience with UNIX/Linux systems utilizing SAN and NAS attached storage. Building and tuning systems in such an environment is a requirement.Experience designing, implementing and managing and tuning RedHat solutions utilizing Apache, Tomcat, ATG, jBoss, Oracle Database, socket interface programs and complex scripts.Working knowledge of networking protocols and components including TCP/IP, DNS, NFS. Ability to perform and read network traces.Experience in designing and implementing system restore and disaster recovery solutions for UNIX/Linux environments.Scripting experience (shell & Perl)Experience with automated system builds and configuration management tools including Red Hat Satellite Server, HP Server Automation, Solarwinds, Big Brother.Ability to produce high quality operational documentation, including Visio diagrams, high-level descriptions of the environment, as well as detailed instructions outlining the steps required to repeat the build-out and configuration of the infrastructure.Ability to provide consulting and guidance to development teams regarding best practices and alternative solutions.Light project management and self management skills are required as delivering on-time and in-scope solutions are a requirement. A high degree of collaboration with Development and other IS teams will be required. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong leadership and visionary skills and will be able to work effectively in a diverse, cross platform team.
