Summary of Position Description
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs routine secretarial duties for a department. Work includes wordprocessing, filing, reception, record keeping and data entry.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
Approximately one to three months of secretarial or clerical work experience; graduation from high school including or supplemented by course work in secretarial courses; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities.
Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable.
Ability to type routine correspondence, forms, reports, etc., from rough draft or dictation.
Knowledge of Business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Knowledge of office practices in order to answer routine inquiries.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties.
Ability to maintain alphabetic and/or numeric filing systems and organize workload according to established priorities.
