A postdoctoral position is available in the Pollard Lab for an NHLBI-funded project to characterize the epigenetic and genomic regulation of gene expression during heart development. This collaborative effort involves working with experts in genomics (massively parallel reporter assays, ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, 5C, genome engineering) and stem cell biology to identify gene regulatory enhancers that are active during the differentiation of pluripotent cells into beating cardiomyocytes. The lab has developed a machine learning approach to predict developmental enhancers from genomic data. The new postdoc will design oligonucleotide libraries for massively parallel reporter assays to validate our predictions and develop computational methods to analyze the resulting RNA-seq data to shed light on the impact of mutations on enhancer function.
